Solution for RMAN-05541: no archived logs found in target database in Oracle

In the previous blog, we performed Steps to Clone Oracle Database from Windows to Oracle Linux Click here to read more. The only difference, in this case, we are taking a cold RMAN backup, and since this is a cold rman backup we don’t need archivelogs with the database backup. But duplication database rman command expect the archivelogs backup as well along with consistent rman backup. Due to this, we are getting an error “RMAN-05541: no archived logs found in target database” while executing a duplicate database. In this blog, we will see how we can fix this error.

Below are the high-level steps we will follow.

1. Take cold or consistent Rman backup
2. Transfer backups to Target Server
3. Start Target DB in nomount state
4. Initiate restore command in Target Server
5. Initiate restore command with NOREDO option in Target Server

Step 1. Take cold or consistent RMAN backup: Shut down your Source DB and startup in mount state to take consistent or cold rman backup.
